Cheerleading:  In early September, boys and girls in grades 3-6 can sign up and try out for the cheerleading team.  Practices are held after-school and on one day each week.  The cheerleaders participate in two citywide competitions in February and March. : See Ms. Magruder for details.

Girls' and Boys' Basketball Teams:  In early September, children in grades 4-6 can sign for Eaton's basketball teams. Practices are held after school. From December to March, the teams compete against other DC public shcools. See Ms. Magruder for details.

Girls' Kickball Team:  In early September, girls in grades 4-6 may sign up for the kickball team that competes against other DC public schools over a 4-6 week season.  Games and practices are held after school.  See Ms. Magruder for details.

Boys' Flag Football Team:  In early September, boys in grades 4-6 may sign up for the flag football team that competes against other DC public schools over a 4-6 week season.  Games and practices are held after school.  See Ms. Magruder for details.

Peer Mediation Program for Grades 4-6  This program is the core of Eaton's "Peaceable Schools" initiative.  Students participating in training for several weeks to learn how to conduct mediation sessions with their peers.  They attend a citywide conference in March.  Once trained, mediators assist fellow student in resolving conflicts under the supervision of Eaton teachers.  Students sign up to participate in the program in early September.  See Ms. Magruder for details.

School Safety Patrol:  Children in grades 3-6 sign up in September to assist at crosswalks in the mornings and afternoons.  Before beginning their duties, they receive an orientation to this important responsiblity.  See Ms. Magruder for details.

Run for the Arts:  This student jog-a-thon, in which studens run multiple laps around the school, helps schools raise money for arts assemblies during the year.  Students secure sponsors for this activity, and are rewarded for their efforts with a T-shirt.  The event takes place in October.

Ski Trip for Grades 4-6:  This is a one-day trip to nearby Ski Liberty organized by Ms. Magruder.  Children sign up in early January.  A $50 fee includes transportation, skis, lunch, and lessons.

Musical:  Children in grades 4-6 perform the junior version of an internationally recognized musical.  In the past years we have performed Annie, Fiddler on the Roof, Into the Woods and others.  Auditions are held in late-December and rehearsals run from January through May as an after school activity.  The activity usually involves over 60 children.  Tickets are sold in advance for a nominal fee.  Two sell-out evening performances are one in-school (free) performance are held.
